The gate that should have been there all along.
Ontic sits between your app and your model. Checks claims against your data. Evidence found: claim goes through. Evidence missing: blocked. Everything logged.
Three environments
Choose by consequence: begin with visibility, move to enforced authority, then full defensibility when required.
With and without the gate
Without Ontic
Model answers. Nobody checks. Customer acts. You find out later.
With Ontic
Model answers. Ontic checks. Evidence found: answer goes through. Evidence missing: blocked. Everything logged.
“Ontology” sounds scarier than it is.
In practice, it's usually just a list of fields the AI needs to know before it's allowed to answer. If you have a database schema, a JSON contract, or even a spreadsheet — you already have most of an ontology.
This is usually the first practical step from pilot behavior to governed behavior.
